Fancy going somewhere mid december?

I've been working my knackers off all year and not been anywhere - paired off friends and jobless mates with no money make it difficult to get away anywhere. so I thought I'd try something a bit different... Begging online for a travel buddy...

I've got a couple of weeks booked in at work from 10th december and need to go somewhere before christmas. I'm not so adventurous that I would go on hols alone - Couldn't face the solo restaraunt visits etc - but I'd love to meet someone who has the same idea in mind (possibly in the same situation) who needs a pre-chrimbo getaway.

Anyone have any ideas? New york is always high on my list but I'm wide open for suggestions too, as long as there's some fun, some food, some drinking (obviously), a bit of culture and good company, I dont mind so much where we go.

I live in gateshead (but don't judge me on that :) so ideally would like someone close-ish so we can meet beforehand and suss each other out. Looks, not important, sex not important - Im' 28, so it would be nice to go with someone who is of a similar age, give or take five years. I'm looking for a likeminded someone who fancies a bit of a break before the big christmas nightmare - or possibly after, for an alternate to the typically tedious new year routine?
