Energy Master Planner - Newcastle - £40,000 to £47,000 Salary.
My client is a City Council based in the North East of England; with an excellent reputation they are one of the largest employers in the region.
Looking to recruit an Energy Master Planner, the successful candidate will work within the Environment & Regeneration Directorate and be responsible to the Executive Director of Environment & Regeneration.
The Job Purpose is to ensure that the energy infrastructure requirements of Newcastle are planned and developed sustainably and managed and coordinated in a manner to contribute to key targets in the Sustainable Communities Strategy, and that energy requirements are effectively aligned with broader infrastructure needs.
All applicants must have managerial experience and be able to work as part of a team. Working alongside two other Managers (responsible for Carbon Management and Climate Change) the role that is on offer is more technically orientated and will focus primarily on:
- Evaluation and implementation of sustainable community energy networks as well as the development of Energy Service Companies and other delivery vehicles.
- Advise on and support the design, procurement and implementation of sustainable energy systems in each of the regeneration programme areas and ensure the coordination of these within the Energy Master Plan.
- Developing and attracting appropriate relationships with external partners both in respect of energy and the associated link with regeneration.
- To ensure that the Energy MASTER Plan takes full account of the commitment to reducing fuel poverty.
- Knowledge of the national energy supply industry.
- Ability to develop programmes and projects from conception through to delivery on the ground relating to sustainable energy for both housing and wider regeneration.
- Experience of working with internal and external service providers and private developers.
- Excellent negotiating skills as well as being computer literate.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline (this includes Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental or Energy qualifications).
