Free family festival of rugby coming to Tynemouth beach!


O2 Scrum on the Beach hits Newcastle on Sunday 27th July as part of O2’s Scrum on the Beach festivals taking place across the UK this Summer.

Rugby fans and their families heading down to Tynemouth beach can take part in a game of beach rugby or simply kick back and enjoy the fantastic acts and live entertainment throughout the day. Fans will have the chance to meet some of their favourite England rugby players who will be down at Newcastle Beach on the day.

For all budding rugby players, the O2 Play Zone will put you through your paces and test your rugby skills in areas such as kicking, passing, running and tackling. As well as the Play Zone the event has plenty of interactive beach-themed games including rugby limbo, arm wrestling, a Punch and Judy show for the kids and a giant screen capturing all the action. For any scrumptious couples coming along there’s also the chance to put yourself forward to be Mr and Mrs O2 Scrum on the Beach 2008!

O2 customers can also access the exclusive O2 Blueroom on the Beach, a VIP chill-out area with free massages, DJs and refreshments. To find out more about the events, rugby fans can visit O2.co.uk/scrum

O2 Scrum on the Beach is part of the RFU's Play On campaign, sponsored by O2. Following on from the highly successful Go Play Rugby recruitment campaign, this initiative aims to keep school and university players connected with the game.
